Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has announced relief to the people of the state. He said that poor families will get cheap electricity. CM Himanta Biswa Sarma wrote on his social media account, “April has come, the temperature will rise, but your electricity bill will be lower. From today, families of Assam will get a discount of Rs 1 per unit in the electricity bill. Also, an additional discount will be given at the end of the year.”

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday announced a reduction in electricity tariffs in the state. The Chief Minister announced a reduction of Rs 1 per unit in electricity tariffs for all domestic consumers. He said that further reduction in electricity tariffs will be announced by the end of this year. Officials said that electricity charges will be reduced by Rs 1 per unit for all categories of domestic consumers, including Jeevan Dhara and ‘High Tension’.
The promise made in the budget has been fulfilled
It is worth noting that the Assam government had already announced the decision that electricity tariffs will be reduced from April 1, 2025. The new tariffs have come into effect from today, which will benefit all domestic consumers by reducing the cost by Rs 1 per unit.
