EPF Account Merge Process: If you are also a salaried class then you will also have Universal Account Number (UAN). Yes, this is a special 12 digit number given by the Employees Provident Fund Organization (EPFO). With the help of UAN, PF members can easily manage their account. Only one UAN is issued to each member. He can use this UAN throughout his job.

EPF Account Merge Process: If an employee changes job then he has to tell his old UAN to the new employer. Additionally, a request should also be made to transfer the amount deposited from the previous account to the new account. This request can be made using the ‘One member -One EPF account (transfer request)’ facility in the online services tab. With this, the balance of all previous accounts can also be transferred to the new account.

When you submit the form to transfer money, it first goes to the employer you have selected for approval. Then this form is sent to the concerned office of EPFO. While submitting the form, you will have to indicate which UAN/Member ID you want to transfer. You will also have to tell whether the old or new employer will attest to the transfer request.

After this the process of Aadhaar verification will have to be completed. Only after all these steps, the form reaches the EPFO office, from where it is approved and the further process starts. It usually takes about 20 days to transfer money from your PF account to another account. Many times people also have a question that what happens to such PF accounts which were opened before the implementation of UAN?

If a PF account was opened before the implementation of UAN and UAN was not created at that time. In such a case, to get the UAN made for that account, the person will have to take the help of his previous employer. The employer can create UAN for such employees through its PF login portal.

Once the UAN is generated for the old PF account, you can transfer or merge the amount deposited in both the accounts by following the process mentioned above. The thing to note here is that to do this, your UAN should be active and linked with Aadhaar. Apart from this, it is also necessary to complete your KYC.
