The EPFO on Saturday launched a facility to allow its over 73 lakh pensioners to submit digital life certificates using face authentication technology from anywhere.

This Face Recognition Authentication will assist those old pensioners who face difficulties in getting their bio-metrics (finger print and iris) due to old age for filing life certificates. Union Minister of Labor and Employment Bhupendra Yadav, who is the chairman of the Central Board of Trustees, the apex decision-making body of the EPFO, introduced the face authentication technology for pensioners, a Labor Ministry statement said.

Earlier in the day, the CBT in its 231st meeting gave in-principle approval for centralized distribution of pension to further improve EPFO services for pensioners. Now the Central Pension Payment System for Pensioners has been given in-principle approval. At the same time, digital calculator has also been approved for pension information.

Yadav also launched Pension and Employee Deposit Linked Insurance Scheme calculator which provides online facility to the pensioner and family members to calculate the benefits of pension and death linked insurance benefits for which they are eligible. Also, pension amount will be transferred in the account, which will make the process easier. Also, it has been decided to link ESIC with Ayushman Bharat scheme.
