FASTag UPI Payment Rules: FASTag is now mandatory for drivers traveling from Delhi to Noida, Gurugram, or any other highway. If your vehicle doesn’t have a FASTag, you could be in trouble.
FASTag Rules India: If you travel daily from Delhi to Noida or Gurugram, FASTag has become as essential to you as petrol. Recently, the National Crime Investigation Bureau (NCIB) shared a two-page document regarding FASTag. It provides information related to FASTag. This document should be read by every driver. Let’s find out what’s in those documents.
Important Rules Related to FASTag
According to FASTag rules, if a vehicle doesn’t have a FASTag or if the FASTag payment fails for some reason, the driver can be charged double the toll fee in cash. However, if payment is made via UPI, only 1.25 times the toll amount will be charged, as per the rules.
However, it has often been observed that toll collectors do not accept UPI. Toll workers either refuse to accept UPI payments or charge double the amount and issue a cash receipt. Therefore, all drivers are urged to keep these documents with them. If a toll worker does not follow the rules, they can inform them of these UPI rules and fight for their rights.

Where to complain about a toll worker?
If a toll worker doesn’t follow the rules or doesn’t listen to you, you can directly complain to NHAI’s 24×7 helpline number 1033. You can also file a complaint online through the Government of India’s CPGRAMS portal (pgportal.gov.in) or the UMANG app. When filing a complaint, be sure to mention the name of the toll plaza, the date, time, and the incident.
Where is Fastag useful?
Fastag is primarily used to pay taxes without stopping at toll plazas, but it is now used in many other areas. It is also used for cashless payments at malls, airports, and parking lots in major cities, and for fuel payments at some petrol pumps. It is no longer limited to toll taxes, but is gradually being used in many everyday services.
