HDFC Bank Revises Charges: Customers to Pay Higher Fees

HDFC Bank: HDFC Bank has changed the rules related to its fees and charges. These changes have been made in HDFC Bank’s savings account, salary account and NRI account. These changes have come into effect from August 1

HDFC Bank has changed the rules related to its fees and charges. These changes have been made in HDFC Bank’s savings account, salary account and NRI account. These changes have come into effect from August 1. It has also affected cash transactions, checkbooks , online transfers ( IMPS and NEFT) and some branch services.

Cash transaction limit reduced

Now customers will get free cash transactions of up to Rs 1 lakh every month for themselves or third parties. Earlier this limit was Rs 2 lakh. The limit of free transactions will be 4 months. After this, a charge of Rs 150 will have to be paid per transaction.

If the cash limit goes above Rs 1 lakh, a fee of Rs 5 per Rs 1,000 will be charged (minimum Rs 150). The daily limit for third party cash transactions is Rs 25,000 only.

Changes in the issuance of cheque books

Now, savings accounts ( including BSBDA ) will get only one free cheque book of 10 pages in a year, earlier it was of 25 pages. Additional cheque books will cost Rs 4 per page, while this rate will be less for senior citizens.

IMPS and NEFT charges reduced

Online IMPS transfers will now be charged Rs 2.5 from regular customers and Rs 2.25 from senior citizens for transactions up to Rs 1,000. Earlier it was Rs 3.5 and Rs 3 respectively. The fee for IMPS transfers above Rs 1 lakh has been reduced from Rs 15 to Rs 13.5.

New charges have also been fixed for NEFT branch transfers according to slabs. Transfers up to Rs 10,000 will cost Rs 2 (Rs 1.8 for senior citizens), Rs 14 (Rs 12.6 for senior citizens) for Rs 1-2 lakh and Rs 24 (Rs 21.6 for senior citizens) for transfers above Rs 2 lakh.

Changes in other digital and branch services

IPIN regeneration is now free , earlier it used to cost Rs 40 ( Rs 36 for Seniors ) .

Charges on branch services such as balance certificate, interest certificate, address confirmation and copy of old records have increased. For example, balance certificate will now cost Rs 100 (senior Rs 90).

ECS and cheque return fees increased

ECS returns will now attract a higher fee of Rs 50 than before . The check return fee has also increased, although the technical return fee will remain the same at Rs 50 (Rs 45 for senior return). All these new charges and limits will be applicable to all branches and networks of HDFC Bank.
