How to apply for PAN card?
Tax experts say that the parents, guardians or representative taxpayers have to apply for the PAN card of the children. The process of applying for a PAN card can be hybrid, both online and offline, with the application having to be physically submitted to the PAN centre along with all the required signed documents and the photograph of the minor.
In case of online mode, it is filled online on the official website of NSDL and the documents can either be uploaded online or sent to the PAN centre office through offline mode. While in case of offline process, the form is downloaded and filled manually and all the required documents and photograph of the minor and requisite fee is attached with the application form.
Here is the step-by-step process
- Step -1: First of all go to the website of NSDL.
- Step -2: Click on ‘New Application’, then choose ‘New PAN Indian Citizen (Form 49A)’ in the PAN type and select ‘Individual’ category.
- Step -3: Now fill in the minor’s personal details and parent’s information (like address, contact number). Upload the parent’s signature and click on the ‘Submit’ button.
- Step-4: After this a new webpage will open, in which more information has to be filled. Here give the information of the Representative Assessee (guardian), who will sign the form. Also, upload the photo and required documents of the minor.
Pay the required fee and then click on the ‘Submit’ button. After the payment is successful, you will be issued an Acknowledgement Number, which you can use to know the status of the application in future. If you have opted for physical document verification, send the complete set to the address given by the chosen service provider (NSDL Protean or UTIITSL) within 15 days of online application. After this the child’s PAN card will be made.
