IMD Alert: There Will be Heavy Rain With Thunder and Lightning in These Districts in the Next 24 hours

The impact of monsoon has intensified in Madhya Pradesh, where it is raining continuously due to an active rain system. Due to heavy rains, the rivers and drains of the state are in spate, due to which flood-like situation has arisen in many areas.

On Saturday, yellow and orange alerts have been issued for heavy to very heavy rains in 28 districts. The Meteorological Department has warned of heavy rains for the next four days. As a precaution, holiday has been declared in schools in Mandla and Dindori districts on Saturday.

High alert for rain in MP, heavy rain expected for next four days

Senior scientist of the Meteorological Department, Dr. Divya E. Surendran informed that currently a monsoon trough is moving through Bikaner and Jaipur towards Datia and Sidhi in Madhya Pradesh, then Asansol and Kolkata. Along with this, another trough line is also passing directly through Madhya Pradesh. Apart from this, a cyclonic circulation is also active in the state.

Due to the effect of these three weather systems, heavy to very heavy rainfall continues in the state. The Meteorological Department has issued a warning of heavy rainfall in almost half of the state till July 8. The effect of these systems is likely to be more especially in eastern Madhya Pradesh.

Rain wreaks havoc in these districts today

According to the latest forecast of the Meteorological Department, very heavy rainfall is expected in Jabalpur, Mandla, Balaghat, Katni, Damoh, Narsinghpur, Vidisha, Sehore, Raisen and Narmadapuram districts on Saturday. It is estimated that these areas may receive about 8 inches of rain in the next 24 hours.

Apart from this, heavy rain alert has also been issued in Bhopal, Guna, Ashoknagar, Rajgarh, Ratlam, Ujjain, Indore, Dewas, Harda, Betul, Pandhurna, Chhindwara, Seoni, Sagar, Umaria, Shahdol, Dindori and Anuppur districts.

At the same time, the Meteorological Department has declared a yellow alert for other districts of the state, which means that it is necessary to be cautious due to more than normal rainfall.

How will the weather be in MP for the next four days?

  • On July 5, an alert of very heavy rain has been issued in Jabalpur, Mandla, Balaghat, Katni, Damoh, Narsinghpur, Vidisha, Sehore, Raisen and Narmadapuram districts. It is estimated that these areas may receive up to 8 inches of rain within the next 24 hours. Apart from this, heavy rains have also been predicted in Bhopal, Guna, Ashoknagar, Rajgarh, Ratlam, Ujjain, Indore, Dewas, Harda, Betul, Pandhurna, Chhindwara, Seoni, Sagar, Umaria, Shahdol, Dindori and Anuppur. Yellow alert has been issued for other districts, warning of more than normal rainfall.
  • A heavy rain alert has been issued in Bhopal, Mandla, Dindori, Balaghat, Seoni, Chhindwara, Pandhurna, Betul, Rajgarh, Vidisha and Guna districts on July 6. Apart from this, rain is likely to continue in other areas as well.
  • An orange alert has been issued for very heavy rains in Jabalpur, Mandla, Seoni, Balaghat, Raisen, Narsinghpur and Chhindwara districts on July 7. At the same time, heavy rains have also been predicted in Shivpuri, Guna, Ashoknagar, Vidisha, Narmadapuram, Betul, Sagar, Chhatarpur, Damoh, Pandhurna, Katni, Umaria and Dindori.
  • On July 8, an orange alert has been issued for very heavy rain in Jabalpur, Mandla, Balaghat, Seoni, Narsinghpur, Chhindwara, Pandhurna, Raisen and Narmadapuram districts. At the same time, there is a possibility of heavy rain in Sehore, Betul, Sagar, Damoh, Katni, Umaria and Dindori. The series of rains is expected to continue in other districts of the state as well.

Heavy rain in Jabalpur, 3 inches of water fell

On Friday, rain was recorded in more than 27 districts of the state. About 72 mm or about 3 inches of water fell in Jabalpur. 2.6 inches of rain fell in Narsinghpur, 1.5 inches in Sagar, 1.25 inches in Naugaon of Chhatarpur, 1 inch in Mandla and Damoh, 45 inches in Datia-Sheopur, while Balaghat and Rewa received about half an inch of rain.

Apart from this, continuous rain continued in many districts including Bhopal, Betul, Guna, Narmadapuram, Chhindwara, Khajuraho of Chhatarpur, Tikamgarh, Seoni, Satna, Sidhi, Umaria, Shajapur, Dewas, Sehore, Agar-Malwa, Vidisha, Mauganj, Katni. Rain continued in many areas even during the night.
