IMD Alert: Thunderstorm and heavy rain alert at 60 km speed in next 24 hours

At this time in Bihar, instead of relief, there is a possibility of disaster from the sky. The Meteorological Department has issued a warning of strong storm, rain and thunderstorm in many districts of the state for the next 24 hours.

If you are in Bihar or planning a trip, then it has now become necessary to be alert. According to the latest forecast of Patna Meteorological Center, the weather in the state will remain unstable till April 18. From wind speed to lightning, everything is going to be different from normal. Warning has been issued for a total of 38 districts of the state, out of which orange alert has been declared in 25 districts and yellow alert in 13 districts.

Districts with orange alert (possibility of strong winds and heavy rain)

These districts are likely to experience strong winds with speed reaching 50 to 60 kmph along with thunder, lightning and moderate to heavy rains in the next 24 hours:

  • East and West Champaran
  • Gopalganj, Siwan, Saran
  • Sitamarhi, Sheohar, Muzaffarpur
  • Vaishali, Samastipur, Darbhanga, Madhubani
  • Madhepura, Saharsa, Khagaria
  • Araria, Kishanganj, Purnia, Katihar
  • Bhagalpur, Banka, Jamui, Munger

Districts with yellow alert (warning of light thunderstorm and rain)

Winds may blow at a speed of 30 to 40 kmph and rain accompanied by thunder may occur in these districts:

  • Kaimur, Rohtas, Aurangabad, Gaya, Bodhgaya
  • Jehanabad, Nawada, Sheikhpura
  • Begusarai, Patna, Bhojpur, Arwal, Buxar, Nalanda

Temperature condition : above 40°C in some districts

Amidst this changing weather, the temperature is also rising in many parts of the state.

  • 40.9°C in Sheikhupura,
  • 40.5°C in Aurangabad,
  • Nawada recorded 40.2°C.
    In the rest of the districts, the temperature is currently below 40 degrees, but it is expected to rise.

Where did it rain lightly?

-Light rain has also been recorded in some parts in the last 24 hours, which include:
-Sitamarhi, Sheohar, Madhubani, Supaul, Araria, Gaya, Bodh Gaya and Buxar.

 What to do? – Weather department’s advice

  • stay in safe places
  • Avoid traveling in the open
  • Be cautious of lightning in fields and open areas
  • Stay away from electric poles and trees
