Yellow alert will remain in force till May 11 in Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Rudraprayag, Bageshwar, Pithoragarh. There is an alert of lightning, hailstorm, heavy rain and winds blowing at a speed of 50 km per hour here.

A major update has come in the weather forecast of Uttarakhand. A yellow alert has been issued for rain, thunderstorm, hailstorm and lightning in five districts of Uttarakhand from May 9. Yellow alert will remain in Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Rudraprayag, Bageshwar, Pithoragarh till May 11. Whereas, light to moderate rain will occur in other districts of Uttarakhand. The alert is in effect for the next two days in Uttarakhand.

Pilgrims have been advised to travel only after knowing the weather conditions. Director of the Meteorological Department, Dr. Bikram Singh said that most areas of Uttarakhand received light rain and strong winds on Thursday.

It was told that the effect of Western Disturbance will be seen in many districts of Uttarakhand. Yellow alert will remain in Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Rudraprayag, Bageshwar, Pithoragarh till May 11. Pilgrims going on the Uttarakhand Chardham Yatra are advised to take weather updates. Kedarnath is located in Rudraprayag district, Badrinath in Chamoli district and Gangotri and Yamunotri Dham are located in Uttarkashi district. The Meteorological Department has issued an alert on rain and thunderstorm in all these districts.
