IMD high alert: Very heavy rain from 28,29,30,31 July to 3 August, heavy rain in these states

Heavy Rain Alert: The India Meteorological Department has predicted that heavy to very heavy rains are likely in many states of the country from July 28 to August 3. There is also a possibility of extremely heavy rains in some areas.

The fierce form of monsoon can be seen in the coming days. According to IMD, extremely heavy rains may occur at some places in eastern Rajasthan on July 28. Heavy to very heavy rains are likely to continue in Northeast India on July 28. Apart from this, heavy rains may occur from 1 to 3 August. A new phase of heavy rains is likely to start in the western Himalayan region during July 29 to 31.

Heavy to very heavy rains expected in many states

According to the Meteorological Department, heavy to very heavy rains are expected in many states of the country in the coming days. Heavy to very heavy rains are expected in the coming days in East, West, North-West, Northeast India, Central and South Peninsular India. According to the IMD, the western end of the monsoon trough is south of its normal position and the eastern end is near its normal position at mean sea level.

It has weakened into a low pressure area over northwest Madhya Pradesh and adjoining areas. During the next 12 hours, it is likely to move almost westward over northwest Madhya Pradesh and gradually weaken and turn into a low pressure area. Due to this, heavy rains may occur in many parts of the country.

Heavy rains in northwest India

  • Extremely heavy rains are likely at some places over East Rajasthan on 28, 29,30 and 31 July.
  • A fresh spell of heavy to very heavy rains is likely over the Western Himalayan region during July 29-31.
  • Heavy rain is likely in Western Uttar Pradesh on July 28, Uttarakhand during July 28 to 30, Himachal Pradesh on July 29.
  • Light to moderate rain is likely at many places with thunderstorms and lightning at some places over Western Himalayan region and plains during the next 7 days.

Extremely heavy rain in West India

  • Heavy rains are very likely at isolated places over Konkan & Goa, Gujarat state, Ghat areas of Madhya Maharashtra during 28th to 30th July,
  • Very heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places over Ghat areas of Madhya Maharashtra on 28th July.
  • Light to moderate rain may occur at many places in the region during the next 6 to 7 days.

Heavy rain likely in Northeast India

  • A fresh spell of heavy to very heavy rains is likely over Northeast India during August 1-3.
  • Extremely heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura on August 1 and 2.
  • Thunderstorms, lightning and heavy to very heavy rains may continue at many places over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya during July 28 to August 2.

Very heavy rains likely in eastern and central India

  • Heavy rains are likely at isolated places over Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh during 28 to 31 July.
  • Heavy rains are likely over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim till August 2, Bihar during July 28 to 30, Jharkhand during July 29-31.
  • During the next 5 days, light to moderate rain and thundershowers along with strong winds are likely at most places in the region.
