The weather has changed in many states of the country including Delhi. The Meteorological Department has issued a warning of torrential rains in 15 states of the country during the next 24 hours.
According to the forecast, light to moderate rainfall will also occur in other parts of South India including Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam today. Heavy rainfall is also likely at isolated places on Tuesday in parts of eastern and central India including Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha.
The Meteorological Department has informed that during June 18-20, heavy rains may occur in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Telangana, Karaikal, Kerala and Mahe, Lakshadweep, Karnataka along with strong winds. Thunderstorms, lightning and strong winds at the speed of 40-50 kmph are likely at isolated places. There is a possibility of rain with thunderstorms in Gujarat, Konkan, Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada and Andaman and Nicobar Islands during June 18 to 20.
During this time, winds can blow at a speed of 30-40 km per hour. At the same time, there is a possibility of rain with thunderstorms in Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Gangetic plains of West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha during the next 24 hours. At the same time, there is a possibility of sporadic heavy rainfall in Uttarakhand, eastern Uttar Pradesh.
There may be rain in Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh on June 21 and 22. The Meteorological Department has issued a ‘Yellow Alert’ for the national capital, in which there is a possibility of light to moderate rain with thunderstorms. Also, strong winds can blow at a speed of 50-60 km per hour. The sky is still cloudy in Delhi-NCR today. Light rain may occur by this evening.

Apart from this, a yellow alert for rain has been issued in Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Goa, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, West Bengal, Jharkhand, Bihar, Sikkim, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh.
Monsoon is wreaking havoc in the hilly areas as well as the plains. The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for rain in Himachal Pradesh. According to the department, light to moderate rain with thunder is likely in Himachal and heavy rain may occur in many areas after June 20. At the same time, life has been badly affected due to torrential rain in many parts of Gujarat for the last 24 hours. Botad district was affected the most. Here 40 people were taken to safe places, while 5 people went missing after a car was swept away in the overflowing river.
