The ₹12.75 Lakh Rule: Zero Tax for Millions
The biggest win for the middle class from the 2025 Budget continues into 2026. If you are on the New Tax Regime, here is the math you need to know:

The Magic Number: You pay zero tax if your annual income is up to ₹12 Lakhs (thanks to the massive ₹60,000 tax rebate).

The Salaried Bonus: If you are a salaried employee, you get an additional ₹75,000 Standard Deduction.5 This means you can earn up to ₹12.75 Lakhs and still pay ₹0 tax.
