Infosys Trainees Lay off: 195 more trainees have been laid off from the IT sector’s giant company Infosys. These trainees were from a batch of 680 and they have been thrown out due to failing in the internal assessment.
According to a Media report, the company sent the mail for this on April 29. This is the fourth time that trainees have been laid off at Infosys since February and about 800 have been laid off so far. Out of this, about 250 have enrolled in the upskilling program through UpGrad and NIIT and about 150 have registered for outplacement services.
Infosys has partnered with upGrad for BPM training and NIIT for IT training. Infosys is offering free upskilling programs through NIIT and upGrad to trainees affected by layoffs.
What’s in the mail from Infosys?
Infosys sent an email to the trainees on April 29 stating that despite additional time for preparation, doubt-clearing sessions, a few mock assessments and three attempts, they have not met the qualifying criteria for the Generic Foundation Training Program. In such a situation, Infosys said that they will not be able to continue with the apprenticeship program.
Now what?
Infosys has offered another way for the outgoing trainees. The company has offered them 12 weeks of training for a post in Infosys Business Process Management (BPM). Apart from this, Infosys also said that the company will bear the expenses of the trainees who choose this course. The company is also giving them one month’s ex-gratia payment and a relieving letter. For those who do not want to choose BPM, the company will pay the fare from Mysore to Bangalore and one way to their hometown. If needed, the employees can stay at the Employee Care Center in Mysore until they are able to go.
