Monsoon Alert: Torrential rain alert issued in 14 states between 17, 18, 19, 20 June, warning of strong winds also issued

Monsoon has gained momentum across the country with its arrival. From the capital Delhi to many states of South, East and Central India, a major change in the weather is being seen. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning of heavy rain and strong winds for the next 24 hours. ‘Yellow alert’ has also been implemented in many states.

There may be heavy rain in these states

According to the latest forecast of the Meteorological Department, many parts of South India including Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam may receive light to moderate rain today. At the same time, heavy rains are expected at isolated places in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim .

Rain with strong winds and thunderstorms

There is a possibility of heavy rains with thunderstorms in Kerala, Karnataka, Telangana, Mahe, Lakshadweep and Tamil Nadu on June 17 and 18. Strong winds with a speed of 40-50 km/hr can also blow during this period. Lightning and strong storms have also been predicted in these areas.

Alert for Gujarat and Maharashtra

Gujarat, Konkan, Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada and Andaman-Nicobar Islands may receive continuous rain from June 17 to 20. These areas are also likely to experience strong winds with thunderstorms, whose speed can be up to 30-40 km/h.

Signs of thunderstorm in eastern India

In the next 24 hours, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, plains of West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha and Chhattisgarh are also likely to receive rain accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning. Local waterlogging and traffic disruptions may occur in these areas.

How will the weather be in Delhi-NCR?

Clouds continue to move over the capital Delhi and NCR. The Meteorological Department has issued a ‘Yellow Alert’ till Wednesday . During this period, light to moderate rain and strong winds at the speed of 50-60 km/h may occur. There is a possibility of light rain in Delhi till this evening.

Alert in Himachal Pradesh and North India too

Monsoon has also become active in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand . Under the yellow alert in Himachal, a period of heavy rains may start after June 20. At the same time, there is a possibility of sporadic heavy rainfall in Uttarakhand and eastern Uttar Pradesh .
