Now if you live outside India and have an NRE or NRO account with IDFC First Bank, then there is good news for you. The bank has started a new service, through which you can make UPI payments in India from your international mobile number, that too without any charge.
Customers of these 12 countries will get this facility
This facility of the bank will benefit those customers who live in these 12 countries – Australia, Canada, France, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, UAE, UK and USA. If you live in any of these countries and have an NRE or NRO account with IDFC First Bank, then you can do UPI transactions in India even using the mobile number of that country.
No need to have a SIM card, you can make payment through UPI app
The best thing about this service is that you do not need to have an Indian SIM card for this. You can make payment through any UPI app like Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm, even if your number is international.
In such a situation, it has become very easy to send and receive money with the help of QR code, UPI ID or mobile number. This service is as secure and reliable as India’s regular UPI system.
To use this new service, you just have to follow 3 steps:
Step 1: Login to the IDFC First Bank app and click on ‘PAY’
Step 2: Link your bank account
Step 3: Create a new UPI ID and start making payments
It is important to note that all these transactions should be done within India so that foreign exchange charges are not levied. Overall, if you are an NRI and want to send money to family or friends in India, pay bills or do shopping, then now this task has become even easier.
