Pass for Rs 340…
The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has announced that if a passenger lives within a 20 km radius of any toll plaza, he can get a monthly toll pass for just Rs 340. Apart from this amount, passengers will not have to pay any additional charges for crossing the toll plaza.
Convenience for those living near toll
plazas This scheme will help lakhs of people who live near toll plazas. Apart from this, it will also be beneficial for local residents who frequently cross toll plazas for work, school or any daily need. To avail this benefit, you will have to submit the required documents to the toll authorities.
GPS Based Toll System
The government is already planning to announce a new GPS-based toll system. The GNSS system tracks your car accurately using GPS and charges based on the distance travelled, whereas in the current system you have to pay for the entire distance, even if you have travelled only 1 km on the toll road. Therefore, GNSS provides a more flexible and relaxed approach.
Under this system, the position of the car will be accurately monitored using GPS service and the toll fee will be automatically deducted from the digital wallet linked to the user’s account based on the distance travelled. However, the ministry has not yet said when this new system will be implemented.
