How to apply for a new passport

  • To get a passport, first of all you have to visit this website https://passportindia.gov.in .
  • After this, click on New User Registration, fill in the required information and create your account.
  • After completing the registration process, you have to login to the portal with login ID and password. 
  • After doing this, select the option Apply for Fresh Passport/Re-issue.
  • In the next step an application form will open, where you have to enter your name, address, date of birth, educational qualification and other information.
  • After submitting the form, you will see the option of Pay and Schedule Appointment on the screen.
  • By clicking on this, you have to book an appointment at Passport Seva Kendra or Regional Passport Office and pay the required fee.
  • After making the payment, you have to download the receipt. It will contain the Application Reference Number and appointment details. 
  • On the day of appointment, you have to go to Passport Seva Kendra or Regional Passport Office with all the required documents and their photocopies.
  • There the documents will be verified after the biometric process.
  • After this there will be police verification. After verification your passport will be sent to your home through speed post.
