Himachal Pradesh: There is good news for 507 ex-servicemen families of Himachal Pradesh. The state government has increased the pension given to ex-servicemen and brave women by 40 percent through the Army Welfare Department.
Now these ex-servicemen and brave women will get a monthly pension of Rs 5,000 instead of Rs 3,000.
This increase will be effective from April 2025. A lump sum pension of Rs 15,000 will be released for three months of the first quarter of the financial year in the month of June. The state government had announced the pension increase in the budget. Now implementing this announcement, the state government has issued a notification to implement this increase from April 1. In such a situation, 507 ex-servicemen and their widows of the state will get the benefit of pension increase. These are the ex-servicemen who have taken voluntary retirement from the Indian Army before 1987.
These ex-servicemen do not get any pension from the Government of India. These ex-servicemen of the Indian Army and their widows are given pension by the state government. At present, 246 ex-servicemen and widows of 261 ex-servicemen in the state will get the benefit of pension increase. Now the monthly pension budget of these pensioners will be Rs. 25,35,000 which was earlier Rs. 15,21,000.
Pension being given to those who fought in World War II
The state government, through the Army Welfare Department, provides old age pension to the families of 514 ex-servicemen who participated in World War II. There are 10 such ex-servicemen, while pension is being given to 504 widows. 10 ex-servicemen are being given a monthly pension of Rs 10,000 and 504 widows are being given a monthly pension of Rs 5,000.
The pension given to ex-servicemen and their widows who took voluntary retirement before 1987 has been increased by Rs 2000 per month. In the first quarter of the financial year, in the month of June, a three-month pension of Rs 15,000 will be released in lump sum. This increase will be effective from the month of April – Brigadier Madansheel Sharma, Director, Sainik Welfare Department.
