PF Balance Check: There are many ways to check EPF balance – via SMS, missed call, UMANG app or EPFO website. To use all these facilities, your UAN (Universal Account Number) must be active, and your mobile number must be linked to that UAN.
If you are a salaried employee and have deposited money in EPF (Employee Provident Fund) for your future, then it is important to know how much amount is deposited in your account. EPF is a retirement saving scheme in which both the employee and the employer deposit a certain percentage of the salary every month. When you retire or change jobs, you can avail this amount.
There are multiple ways to check EPF balance – via SMS, missed call, UMANG app or EPFO website. To avail all these facilities, your UAN (Universal Account Number) must be active, and your mobile number must be linked to that UAN.

- Visit the official website of EPFO www.epfindia.gov.in .
- Click on ‘For Employees’ in the ‘Our Services’ section.
- Select ‘Member Passbook’ option in the ‘Services’ menu.
- Login by entering UAN number, password and captcha.
- After login, you can view your PF passbook and transaction history.
Note: Only those users will get the benefit of this facility whose UAN is active and KYC is complete.
Check PF balance through missed call
- Give a missed call to 9966044425 from your registered mobile number .
- The call will be disconnected automatically and within a few seconds you will get the PF balance information via SMS on your mobile.

- Type this format from your mobile: EPFOHO UAN ENG
(Here ENG means English, you can also use your own language like HIN (Hindi), MAR (Marathi), etc.) - Send SMS to this number: 7738299899
- Within a few moments, the PF balance information will be sent to your mobile.

- Visit UMANG website: https://web.umang.gov.in
- Search EPFO services and login with UAN.
- By clicking on ‘View Passbook’ option you can see your PF balance and transaction history.

- Download UMANG app from Google Play Store or Apple App Store.
- Sign up with mobile number and verify with OTP.
- Open the app and tap on the 3 lines (≡) at the top left.
- Go to ‘Service Directory’ and search ‘EPFO’.
- Click on ‘View Passbook’ option and login with UAN and password.
- After login you can see your PF balance and details.
