Public Holiday Alert: All Govt Offices, Schools & Colleges Will Be Shut on This Date

Punjab Cabinet Minister Aman Arora announced in a press conference here that gazetted holiday has been declared on 31st July (Thursday) on the occasion of martyrdom day of Shaheed Udham Singh ji.

He said that all government offices, boards, corporations, schools and colleges in Punjab will remain closed on this day.

Aman Arora said that some demands of the Kamboj community were pending for a long time, one of the major demands was that a holiday be declared in the entire state on the martyrdom day of Shaheed Udham Singh. Keeping this demand in mind, a gazetted holiday has been declared in Punjab on 31st July.

Apart from this, he said that the government has also accepted another important demand, under which Bhawanigarh, Bhikhi, Sunam, Kot Shamir Road will be named after Shaheed Udham Singh ji. The formal announcement of this naming will be made by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and Arvind Kejriwal on 31st July. He also said that the Patiala to Bhawanigarh Road will also be named after Shaheed Udham Singh ji and for this, Chief Minister Mann has already talked to the central government.
