Public Holiday: Government declared holiday in all government offices, schools, colleges and banks on 12th May

If you are planning to do some important government work, banking transactions or going to school for your children on May 12, then just wait! The Uttar Pradesh government has declared a public holiday on the auspicious occasion of Buddha Purnima on this day. This decision will stop the functioning of government offices, banks, educational institutions and insurance companies across the province for one day.

 Government offices and banks will remain closed

According to the notification issued by the Government of Uttar Pradesh:

  • All government offices will remain closed on May 12.
  • May 12 has also been declared as a holiday in the holiday list issued by Bank Union. This means that there will be no transactions on this day in all the banks of the state.
  • LIC Union has also confirmed the retirement in its branches. That is, branches of Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) will also not function on this day.

 Classes will not be held in schools and colleges

According to the annual holiday calendar issued by Uttar Pradesh Basic Education Council, Prayagraj:

  • May 12 will be a holiday in all the schools run under the Basic Education Council of the state.
  • Apart from this, recognized private schools, colleges and other educational institutes will also remain closed.

Under this decision, students, teachers and employees of the education department will get the benefits of retirement.
