School Closed: Government and Private Schools Shut Down in This State Today – Here’s Why

All government schools in Jharkhand will remain closed on Tuesday in honour of former Chief Minister Shibu Soren. Along with this, many private schools in Ranchi have also declared a holiday on Tuesday.

The monthly examination (rail) to be held on Tuesday in government schools of Jharkhand has also been postponed. Secretary of School Education and Literacy Department Uma Shankar Singh said, ‘Classes in all government schools will remain suspended on August 5 as part of state mourning.’

Died at the age of 81

The state government has announced a three-day state mourning in honour of Soren, the founder of the ruling Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), who died at a hospital in New Delhi on Monday at the age of 81.

All government offices closed

According to an official statement, the government has also cancelled all its scheduled programmes during this period. The statement said that all state government offices will remain closed on August 4 and 5.

The national flag was lowered

According to the statement, ‘After the death of former Chief Minister and Rajya Sabha member Shibu Soren at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in New Delhi this morning, the state government has decided to observe three days of state mourning from August 4 to August 6, 2025.’ The national flag will fly at half-mast on all buildings in Jharkhand.
