According to a report published in TOI, Kristi Noem said in a press conference at Ronald Reagan Airport in Washington, “I think most Americans will be happy that they no longer have to take off their shoes and the screening process will be much easier and faster.” The “shoe rule” originated from a horrific incident in December 2001, when a man named Richard Reid tried to blow up an American Airlines flight (from Paris to Miami) by hiding a bomb in his shoes.

He tried to bomb the flight mid-air, but due to the alertness of the passengers and crew the attack was foiled and the flight was landed safely in Boston.

Shoe scanning started

Although this attack was not successful, after this the US security agency TSA made airport checking even stricter. By the year 2006, it was made mandatory for all passengers aged 12 to 75 to remove their shoes at the airport. Shoes were also scanned like other luggage, so that if someone hides a bomb or explosive in it, it can be caught. But now after the implementation of many systems, Noem said, “Now our security technology has advanced a lot. We now have a strong and multi-level government system.”

There was a lot of trouble

This change will come into effect immediately at all US airports. However, officials have also clarified that in some cases, passengers may still be asked to remove their shoes if required during security check. The biggest advantage will be that the process of checking at the airport will now become faster and easier. For years, people found it very troublesome and time-consuming to remove shoes during security check. With bags, personal belongings and sometimes children in hand, it was very difficult to take off and wear shoes in line.

This thing can provide security

Now removing this rule will provide great relief especially to families, elderly and disabled passengers. This will reduce the time taken in the checking line, people will be able to move ahead quickly and the whole process will be less troublesome than before. Now the rule of removing shoes in general checking has been removed, but a special service called TSA PreCheck still provides many benefits.

This is a trusted traveler program, in which pre-checked passengers get quick and easy security security. Those who are members of this program do not need to remove belts, light jackets or laptops from the bag. The cost of joining it is around $80 (about ₹ 6,700) and the validity is for five years.

What will this mean for the passenger?

If the system is fully implemented, the need for boarding passes, passport checks and physical ID verification will be eliminated in many places. Facial recognition scanners at key touchpoints will identify passengers and notify airlines of their arrival. For those with only hand luggage, facial scans at security entrances could replace any physical check-in. For those with checked baggage, verification will be done at bag drop. In both cases, the passenger will not need to produce their passport or boarding pass.

The current process is complicated.

Currently, passengers have to check in online or at the airport, enter passport details and receive a scannable boarding pass. After the change, this process will disappear completely.

According to the information, on October 26, Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma will inaugurate Terminal-1 of Jaipur Airport which will be operational only for international flights from the 27th. Currently, Terminal-2 is catering to both domestic and international flights. But now the system will change and from the 27th, Terminal-2 will be used only for passengers of domestic flights.

Terminal-1 is being opened after many years with a new heritage look. Preparations are in full swing for this terminal which has a capacity of 15 lakh passengers annually. Soon dummy check-runs will also be started at Terminal-1. Around 100 security personnel will be deployed for the security of Terminal-1 which includes CISF and airport security personnel. Around 10 immigration counters have been set up in its departure area, while 14 counters have been set up in the arrival area.

All preparations completed, trial run was also successful

All preparations have been completed for Terminal 1 in Jaipur. Dummy trial has also been done here. Actually, people have got great convenience due to increased air connectivity in Rajasthan. Convenience has increased for Delhi, Mumbai etc. including Ayodhya in domestic flights, while now tourists will also come due to direct connectivity to international Abu Dhabi, Kuala Lumpur. Airport personnel said that there has been an impressive increase in passenger traffic.

Apart from duty-free outlets, F&B outlets will also be available.

There will be 10 check-in counters in Terminal 1 building. Apart from duty-free outlets, F&B outlets will also start functioning from Terminal-1. Other facilities include medical room, 24-hour ambulance facility and lounges. The first flight to land at Terminal-1 of Jaipur Airport on October 27 will be Etihad Airways from Abu Dhabi, which will land at 2.10 am. All the passengers arriving in it will be given a grand welcome.
