IMD Heavy Rain Red Alert: The weather continues to wreak havoc in the southern Indian state of Kerala. Ever since the monsoon has become active, Kerala has been receiving heavy rains.

During this, the monsoon has allowed a breath of relief for a few days, but after that it has once again come back in full force. Due to the activation of a new system in the Bay of Bengal, the state is receiving continuous heavy rains. The Indian Meteorological Department has now predicted heavy to very heavy rains for the people of three districts of Kerala. Along with this, a red alert has also been issued. This means that along with the general public, the administration has also been asked to be on high alert. People have been advised not to step out of their homes.

Monsoon rains in Kerala have taken a severe turn on Thursday, June 26, 2025, causing flooding in low-lying areas of Ernakulam, Idukki and Thrissur districts. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert in three districts of the state (Idukki, Malappuram and Wayanad), while an orange alert has been issued in seven other districts of Kerala. A red alert means that more than 20 cm of rain is likely to fall in the next 24 hours. Along with this, an orange alert indicates the possibility of 11 to 20 cm of rain and a yellow alert indicates the possibility of 6 to 11 cm of rain.

Disaster is disaster…

Flood-like conditions…

The rising water level of these rivers and incessant rains have led to flood-like conditions in several low-lying areas. Hundreds of people from Ernakulam, Thrissur and Idukki districts have been shifted to relief camps set up in safer places. At the same time, the Churmala river is in spate due to incessant rains in the Mundakai-Churalmala area of Wayanad district.

The river water here is flowing rapidly and is breaching the banks near the Bailey Bridge, which has increased the chances of flooding in the area. It is worth noting that in July last year, the same area had witnessed horrific landslides, in which more than 200 people died and hundreds of houses were destroyed. This time again, the rains have increased the anxiety of the people, especially in the areas that have already been declared sensitive.

Weather Alert: Severe cold in Uttar Pradesh including North India is troubling people. Amidst this cold, there may be rain in Uttar Pradesh once again. A big update has come out from the Meteorological Department regarding this.

However, this rain has been predicted to occur only in some districts of UP. According to the information, there is a possibility of rain in some nearby districts of UP including Saharanpur, Bijnor, Rampur on January 6. During this, the fury of cold wave will also be seen.

According to the IMD forecast, Thursday, January 2 will be a cold day in Sitapur, Shravasti, Bahraich, Lakhimpur Kheri, Pilibhit, Bareilly, Rampur, Badaun, Saharanpur, Muzaffarnagar, Meerut, Baghpat, Hapur, Ghaziabad, Moradabad, Gautam Budh Nagar and other districts of UP. An alert has been issued in the city and other districts. However, light to moderate fog may be seen in many districts late at night or early in the morning on Thursday.

Most of the temperature has dropped, said Professor Manoj Kumar Srivastava, a meteorologist at Banaras Hindu University, who said that cold and shivering are continuously increasing in UP due to icy westerly winds. For the last two days, there has been a continuous drop in the maximum temperature, due to which people are suffering a lot from the cold even during the day. It is estimated that there may be a slight further drop in the minimum and maximum temperatures in the coming days.

The mercury reached 6 degrees Celsius.

According to the Amausi Weather Center in Lucknow, Meerut in UP was the coldest on Wednesday. The minimum temperature here fell to 6.0 degrees Celsius. Along with this, minimum temperatures have also been recorded in many other districts around it. However, in many districts of UP, the difference between day and night temperatures is only 3 to 4 degrees Celsius. Due to this, the people of UP are facing a lot of cold both during the day and at night.
