7th Pay Commission: The Jammu and Kashmir government has announced a 2% increase in Dearness Allowance (DA) for its employees. After this, DA has now become 55% of the basic salary, which was earlier 53%.

This revised DA will be effective from January 1, 2025 and its arrears will be given in June 2025. After this, this new DA will be included in every month’s salary.

This hike will benefit all employees covered under the 7th Pay Commission framework. This decision is in line with the recent hike of 2% in DA for central employees and pensioners by the Central Government.

Last DA hike of 7th Pay Commission

With this amendment, DA has reached 55%, which is considered to be the last DA hike under the 7th Pay Commission. The validity of the 7th Pay Commission is ending on 31 December 2025.

What is the reason for the increase?

This increase in dearness allowance is based on the data of All India Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers (AICPI-IW). This index is continuously increasing. In March 2025, this index increased by 0.2 points to 143.0. At the same time, in April 2025, it increased by another 0.5 points and reached 143.5.

The Labor Bureau has confirmed that the CPI-IW increased by 0.5 points to 143.5 in April, which is an indication of rising inflation. Due to this, this revision in DA became necessary.

When will the next revision take place?

Now the eyes of the employees are on the next DA revision, which will be implemented from July 1, 2025. Usually it is announced around Diwali (October-November). This can also be the last DA hike of the 7th Pay Commission. After this, the 8th Pay Commission can be implemented from January 1, 2026.

Tensions between India and Pakistan are increasing after the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir on April 22. Fears of war are being expressed from both sides. Meanwhile, the Union Home Ministry has directed several states to conduct mock drills on May 7.

This is so that if any emergency situation arises, the citizens of our country can be saved. This includes what to do in the event of an air strike, what to do in case of blackout, and other ways to save yourself. This mock drill has been asked to be conducted with the aim of making people aware of the need to ensure the safety of citizens. Let’s know what a civil defense mock drill is.

What is Civil Defense Mock Drill?

Experts say that Civil Defense Mock Drill is not just a drill. It teaches how to keep citizens safe in emergencies. How a citizen can help not only himself but also others in difficult situations. This drill can play a vital role in getting out of situations like war or disaster. It is an essential drill that everyone should take seriously.

There will be a blackout during this mock drill. This means that at the time of the attack, the lights of all homes, offices and public places will be turned off. Along with this, loud sirens will also be sounded. As soon as the siren is heard, people will have to be alert and reach safe places. During the attack, citizens will be trained to survive.

Measures to be taken during this exercise include sounding air raid warning sirens and training citizens on security aspects to protect themselves in the event of any attack.

That’s why mock drills are necessary…

Civil Defense Mock Drills are an exercise that prepares people to deal with any emergency situation. This can save people’s lives. According to experts, such mock drills are held in many European countries. Wherever war-like situations arise, the government teaches citizens self-defense methods.

The post What is Civil Defense Mock Drill?
