The work of making the remaining part operational is also going on in full swing. By the end of April, trial runs will start on the 4 km long section between New Ashok Nagar and Sarai Kale Khan in New Delhi. National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) has given this information.

At present, there are two operational stations of RRTS in Delhi – Anand Vihar and New Ashok Nagar. After the inclusion of Sarai Kale Khan station in the list, passengers will get more convenience in traveling from Delhi to Meerut. The special thing is that Sarai Kale Khan station will work as a multi-model hub and it will be connected to RRTS as well as Indian Railways and Delhi Metro. This will provide passengers with smooth transit between different modes of transport.

Construction work is going on at a fast pace.

An official of NCRTC said that the viaduct between New Ashok Nagar and Sarai Kale Khan has been completed, tracks have been laid and now the work of signaling and installing overhead electric equipment is going on at a fast pace. Trial runs between these two stations are expected to start by the end of April.

New track ready in Meerut

RRTS is also being expanded in Meerut. The 6 kilometer section from Meerut South to Shatabdi Nagar has already witnessed the trial run of Namo Bharat Train and local metro. NCRTC says that this section will also be opened for passengers by the end of April.

Local metro and RRTS will share the same infrastructure.

Six-coach Namo Bharat trains and three-coach local metro trains will run on the 23-km-long RRTS route of Meerut. The special thing is that the same infrastructure will be used for both the trains. For the first time, the local metro model is being tested in the RRTS project. NCRTC spokesperson Puneet Vats said, “The work on the remaining sections in Delhi and Meerut is progressing rapidly. We are putting in all our efforts to complete this project within the stipulated time frame.”

The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC), police and administration have started preparations for this. Two thousand soldiers including four companies of PAC will be deployed

According to sources, a large number of civil police personnel will be deployed on both routes of the Prime Minister along with four companies of PAC. Policemen and gazetted officers will also be deployed from outside districts. Sahibabad Namo Bharat station will be completely under the security of SPG. Police and PAC personnel will be deployed for external security. The list of those who will be present with the Prime Minister in Namo Bharat has almost been finalized.

Chief Minister may also be involved

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath may also attend the program. However, till now the written program regarding the arrival of the Chief Minister has not reached the local police-administrative officials. Nevertheless, the officials have started preparations.

Will run from Sahibabad to New Ashok Nagar

13 km of the Delhi section of the Delhi-Meerut corridor is ready. The train will run from Sahibabad to Anand Vihar and New Ashok Nagar. With this extension, this route of the RRTS corridor will increase from 42 km to 55 km with 11 stations.

Taking a big step towards increasing passenger-convenience and travel efficiency, NCRTC has launched two pioneering features on the ‘RRTS Connect’ app. Which will set a new benchmark for public transport in India.

For the first time in the country, passengers of NaMo Bharat trains can now avail live train tracking and live parking status, which will provide them with real-time information of NaMo Bharat trains, making their travel experience easier and more efficient. The live train tracking feature provides passengers with real-time updates on train arrivals, which also shows the exact status and location of NaMo Bharat trains. This enables passengers to plan their journey with accuracy, letting them know when the next train will arrive at their station.

Apart from the train arrival time, the feature also provides information about the next station as well as the distance and estimated arrival time. Similarly, the Live Parking Status feature will provide real-time updates on parking space availability at RRTS stations, which is a first for commuters. Passengers can now see the current occupancy of parking spaces, helping them decide in advance about where to park their vehicles. This will save passengers’ time and they will get parking without any delay.

Adequate parking facilities for more than 8,000 vehicles are being provided at RRTS stations from Delhi to Meerut. These new facilities make the already existing features in the ‘RRTS Connect’ app, such as ticket booking, station navigation and last-mile connectivity options, more effective. Options like “feeder bus service”, bike, auto and cab booking are also available on the app, ensuring last-mile connectivity for passengers.

Additionally, “Station Amenities” provides passengers with detailed information about station amenities, including drinking water, toilets, elevators and escalators, as well as the station layout to aid navigation. The app also facilitates direct communication with the station control room via phone or WhatsApp for any assistance and includes a “lost and found” feature to help recover lost items.

By introducing live train tracking and parking status for the first time in India, NCRTC is not only setting a new standard for public transport but also significantly enhancing the travel experience for Namo Bharat Train passengers. Currently, 42 km of the RRTS corridor is operational for passengers. It has nine stations, namely Sahibabad, Ghaziabad, Guldhar, Duhai, Duhai Depot, Muradnagar, Modinagar South, Modi Nagar North and Meerut South. Along with this, trial runs are also going on on the Delhi section from New Ashok Nagar to Sahibabad. Once this section is operational, the total operational length of the corridor will increase to 54 km.

For power supply in these stations, the auxiliary sub-stations (ASS) installed in the stations have been charged to a capacity of 33 kV. This has ensured power supply for the station’s electrical system, AFC system and other technical works.

Power supply reached from Anand Vihar to New Ashok Nagar

Presently, for power supply to these stations, 33 kV capacity cable has been laid from Ghaziabad Receiving Sub Station (RSS) to Anand Vihar and New Ashok Nagar stations through viaduct and tunnel, after successful energization, power is being supplied to these stations.

ASS room is ready at Sarai Kale Khan station

The supply of electricity from Ghaziabad RSS to Delhi section is a temporary provision. In the coming time, power supply to Delhi section will be done from Sarai Kale Khan Receiving Sub Station (RSS), whose construction work is in the final stage. Power supply to Sarai Kale Khan RSS will be done from the grid of Delhi Transco Limited and Gas Turbine Power Station (GTPS) located at IP State. ASS room has also been completed in Sarai Kale Khan station, the largest station of Delhi section, and it will also be charged soon.

Power supply to stations is done through RSS and ASS. RSS receives electricity from distribution companies and sends it to the ASS built at the station, which ensures power supply at the station. RSS supplies auxiliary power to traction and stations to run trains.

Receiving substations are being built between Delhi and Meerut

5 Receiving Sub Stations (RSS) are being constructed on the RRTS corridor between Delhi and Meerut, out of which Ghaziabad, Muradnagar and Shatabdi Nagar (Meerut) RSSs have been completed, while power supply will also be started from Sarai Kale Khan RSS soon. Apart from this, the fifth RSS is under construction in Modipuram (Meerut).

NCRTC has signed agreements with power transmission corporations in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh for power supply on the RRTS corridor. From these grid substations, power is coming at 220 kV voltage to the receiving substations of NCRTC located at Ghaziabad, Muradnagar and Shatabdi Nagar, from here 25 kV power is being used for running trains and 33 kV power is being used for all other needs of the stations through ASS of RRTS stations.

ASS is being constructed for power supply to all the RRTS and Meerut Metro stations on Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS Corridor, which will be supplied with power from the designated nearest Receiving Sub Stations (RSS).

Trial runs are going on smoothly in the Delhi section from New Ashok Nagar to Sahibabad. Once this section becomes operational, the operational section of the corridor will extend to 54 km. This section will connect important stations like Anand Vihar and New Ashok Nagar, thereby significantly increasing the number of transit options for passengers in the National Capital Region (NCR). This extension will ensure greater convenience, streamlined connectivity and better accessibility for passengers in NCR. Currently, a 42 km corridor is operational with 9 stations, which include Sahibabad, Ghaziabad, Guldhar, Duhai, Duhai Depot, Muradnagar, Modinagar South, Modi Nagar North and Meerut South.

Namo Bharat train services on Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS corridor will be operated from 6:00 am on Sunday instead of 8:00 am. It will continue till 10:00 pm. Usually Namo Bharat train operates from 6 am from Monday to Saturday and from 8 am on Sunday.

Depending on the projected number of passengers, the frequency of trains may also be increased if required, to ensure a seamless and comfortable travel experience for all. Each Namo Bharat train has a ladies coach for convenience, which is the second coach when travelling towards Meerut and the second-to-last coach in the direction of Delhi. Additionally, reserved seats for women are available in other coaches for convenience and accessibility. All Namo Bharat trains and stations are universally accessible, ensuring a seamless and inclusive travel experience for passengers with different needs.

One year completed

Namo Bharat trains on the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS corridor have recently completed one year of operations. More than 40 lakh passengers have enjoyed the Namo Bharat train service so far on the 42 km long section connecting nine stations between Sahibabad to Meerut South. This corridor is soon going to be extended to 54 km with the addition of Sahibabad to New Ashok Nagar section. Currently, trial runs are on for this. This extension includes major stations like Anand Vihar and New Ashok Nagar. This will further strengthen connectivity and provide more convenient transit options to passengers traveling in NCR.

Namo Bharat train will provide great relief to the passengers of Ghaziabad, Noida and Delhi next year. Under this, Namo Bharat will start operating from three stations of Delhi. After Namo Bharat starts operating, this facility will start from New Ashok Nagar. This will save time. Earlier, New Ashok Nagar station of Namo Bharat was not included in the plan. Later, on the basis of study, it was found that if a station is built in New Ashok Nagar for those traveling between Noida and Ghaziabad, it will be of great benefit. NCRTC decided to build a station in New Ashok Nagar and connect it to the metro. Sky walks are being built for the convenience of passengers.

The state government has given approval, waiting for the center

A decision on two new tracks of Namo Bharat can be taken in the next one year. The state government has given its approval to the proposed Namo Bharat between Ghaziabad and Jewar. The central government has to take a decision on this. This will provide great relief to the passengers of Ghaziabad and Greater Noida. According to sources, work on this track can start after Delhi-Meerut. Similarly, the central government has to give the final approval on the Delhi-Gurugram-Alwar route.

40 lakh passengers traveled in a year

The country’s first Namo Bharat train has successfully completed one year of operation. More than 40 lakh passengers have traveled in the train from Sahibabad to Meerut South Station. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had flagged off the train on 20 October last year. The Namo Bharat train was first operated in a 17-km stretch between Sahibabad and Duhai on the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut corridor.

After this section, the Namo Bharat train service was extended on an additional 17-km long section from Duhai to Modinagar North on 6 March 2024. On 18 August this year, the Namo Bharat train is being run in an additional eight-km stretch between Modinagar North and Meerut South Station.

Namo Bharat train driven manually, high speed test planned

In this trial of the Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS), the Namo Bharat train was run manually to check the compatibility of the civil structure. As the trial progresses, the NCRTC will conduct a comprehensive evaluation to assess the integration and coordination of the train with various subsystems such as track, signaling, platform screen door (PSD) and overhead power supply system. Along with this, extensive trial runs including high-speed tests of the train are planned in the next few months.

The length of the section is 12 km, two RTS stations in Anand Vihar and New Ashok Nagar

The length of this section from Sahibabad to New Ashok Nagar is about 12 km. Anand Vihar and New Ashok Nagar are the two RRTS stations in this section. After the operation of this section, Namo Bharat Train service will be available for passengers from New Ashok Nagar to Meerut South. After which passengers will be able to reach New Ashok Nagar to Meerut South and Meerut South to New Ashok Nagar Delhi seamlessly and at a fast speed in less than 40 minutes.

RRTS will be connected to two metro lines

Anand Vihar RRTS station will be one of the most crowded passenger transit hubs on the corridor. The station is connected to two metro lines (Blue and Pink), Anand Vihar Railway Station and two ISBTs – one towards Delhi and the other towards Kaushambi in Uttar Pradesh. Hence, it witnesses a huge crowd of passengers on a daily basis. NCRTC is ensuring seamless integration of Anand Vihar RRTS station with these various transit modes to provide better convenience and accessibility to passengers, making it a model of multi-modal integration.

Photo over bridge will be prepared

The New Ashok Nagar RRTS station is located less than 100 metres from the New Ashok Nagar Metro station. To integrate these two modes of transport, NCRTC is constructing a foot over bridge (FOB) to connect the concourse level of the Metro station to the concourse of the RRTS station. Additionally, to facilitate access to the New Ashok Nagar RRTS station, two more FOBs are being constructed, one towards Chilla Village and Mayur Vihar Extension and the other near the ancient Shiv Mandir. These FOBs will provide easy access to the residents of New Ashok Nagar to commute to the station.

A total of nine stations will be included from Sahibabad to Meerut South

NCRTC has recently won top honors among various international participants at the UIC Sustainability Impact Awards 2024 in Germany. These include two awards, the Best Transit Award for Seamless Connectivity and the prestigious Overall Winner Award. Currently, Namo Bharat Train services operate in a 42 km section from Sahibabad to Meerut South. This section includes a total of nine stations namely Sahibabad, Ghaziabad, Guldhar, Duhai, Duhai Depot, Muradnagar, Modi Nagar South, Modi Nagar North and Meerut South.

These RRTS stations will be in Delhi section

With the introduction of Namo Bharat trains from Sahibabad to New Ashok Nagar, the length of the operational section of RRTS will increase to 54 km, with 11 RRTS stations. The Delhi section has three RRTS stations, New Ashok Nagar, Anand Vihar and Sarai Kale Khan. The section between New Ashok Nagar and Sarai Kale Khan station is in the final stages of construction and track laying activities are in progress. Namo Bharat Train: National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) Managing Director Shalabh Goyal inspected the Namo Bharat corridor from Meerut South Station to Sarai Kale Khan in Delhi. This inspection started from Meerut South Station, the construction work of which is completed and soon the Namo Bharat Train will start operating on this section.

Goyal closely inspected the operational preparations of the station and reviewed the parking facility. According to this, the operation of Meerut Metro will start from this station and passengers traveling from Meerut South to Modipuram will get convenience from this.

Namo Bharat train will be connected to Meerut metro

According to the release, this station has three platforms, two of which are for Namo Bharat Train and one for Meerut Metro. It said that the eight kilometer section from Modi Nagar North Station to Meerut South Station will soon be opened to the public, so that passengers will be able to reach Meerut South from Ghaziabad in a few minutes.

Namo Bharat train work is going on on this route

At present, the Namo Bharat train is undergoing testing between Modi Nagar North and Meerut South stations. It was said that Goyal also inspected the Modi Nagar North to Sahibabad corridor. The train is running on a part of the Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) and Goyal inspected this route in Namo Bharat. During the inspection, Goyal interacted with the station controller, train operator and other operational personnel and learned about the challenges they face daily.

There are 8 stations between Sahibabad and Modi Nagar.

At present, Namo Bharat train is operating on a 34 km route between Sahibabad and Modi Nagar North and there are a total of eight stations in this section. With the opening of the section from Modi Nagar North to Meerut South, operations will begin on this 42 km section and the total number of stations will become nine.

The Managing Director also inspected the New Ashok Nagar and Sarai Kale Khan stations under construction in Delhi. 14 km of RRTS falls under Delhi, out of which five km is underground.

The construction of Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut Regional Rapid Transport System (RRTS) corridor is progressing at a fast pace. Rapid Rail has already started running between Sahibabad-Modi Nagar, the first section of this corridor. Rapid Rail will have four stations in New Delhi, Anand Vihar, New Ashok Nagar, Sarai Kale Khan and Jangpura.

The work of New Ashok Nagar Railway Station is almost complete. The roof of this station has been installed and the railway line has also been laid. Now only some finishing work is left. New Ashok Vihar station is 22 meters above the ground. Foot over bridges are also being built to connect the New Ashok Nagar station of Rapid Rail to the metro station and nearby areas.

With the help of these foot over bridges, Rapid Rail Stations New Ashok Nagar Metro Station, Chilla Village and Mayur Vihar Extension will be connected. It is expected that these foot over bridges will be ready before the trial run of Rapid Rail from Sahibabad to Delhi.

The total length of the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut Rapid Rail Corridor is 82 km.

Out of this, the Rapid Rail i.e. NaMo Train is running on 34 km stretch. The 8 km stretch from Modi Nagar to Meerut South is also about to be built now. Out of the total 82 km stretch, 70 km stretch is elevated. Whereas, NaMo Train will run underground on the 12 km stretch. 68 km of the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS Corridor falls in UP, while 10 km is in Delhi. This entire project is expected to become operational by the end of next year.

Anand Vihar station is also going to be completed.

The work of Anand Vihar station is also in advanced stage. Work has also started on Sarai Kale Khan station. Jangpura station will be built a little later because it will be built with a stabling yard.

Trial run early next year

The trial run of Namo train between Sahibabad and Anand Vihar in New Delhi can happen early next year. The total distance between these two stations is 12 km. Work is going on here at a fast pace. Namo train is running till Sahibabad.

This feature will give passengers the freedom to generate QR code for travel on the RRTS Connect app with just a single tap, from anywhere within a 300 meter radius of the RRTS station premises. According to news agency IANS, with the help of this feature, the passenger neither needs to write the destination in the app nor book an advance ticket for the journey to generate a QR code to reach his destination.

Just by clicking on One Tap Booking in the app, QR ticket will be generated for the journey. This initiative will provide ease of travel to the passengers and passengers will also be able to change their destination without any dilemma during the journey.

Neither the departure station nor the destination station is required to be selected. There
will be no need to select either the departure station nor the destination station in the app to generate the digital QR code in the process of purchasing tickets through the one-tap booking facility.

Typically any such app requires departure and destination selection at the beginning of the journey, so the destination cannot be changed during the journey. To avail this facility, passengers will have to link their e-wallet to the mobile application and it will be mandatory to keep a minimum amount in the e-wallet, which will be only Rs 100 .

Along with this, passengers will have to activate the location services of their mobile phones while using this app. With the help of QR code, passengers will be able to enter the RRTS station by scanning the QR code and end their journey by scanning the same QR code at any station on the corridor.

The prescribed amount will be automatically deducted from the e-wallet at the time of exit from the AFC gate of the destination station for the journey undertaken by the passenger through QR code scan.

Rapid Rail was started on October 20.

The 17 km long priority section of Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS corridor between Sahibabad and Duhai depot is now operational for the people. There are 5 stations in this section, Sahibabad, Ghaziabad, Guldhar, Duhai and Duhai Depot.

Last month, on October 20, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had flagged off India’s first NaMo Bharat trains and inaugurated India’s first RRTS corridor. The target is to operate the entire 82 km long corridor from Delhi to Meerut by June 2025.
