Tatkal Ticket Rules: If you want to avail the instant ticket booking service of Indian Railways, then this news is very important for you. From July 1, 2025, linking the IRCTC account with Aadhaar number has been made mandatory for Tatkal ticket booking. Apart from this, Aadhaar-based OTP verification will also be mandatory for every instant booking from July 15, 2025.
This new system of the Railways aims to make the ticket booking process more transparent and fraud-free. The Railways often received complaints of black marketing of Tatkal tickets and irregularities in bookings made by agents. Linking the account with Aadhaar will ensure that the ticket is being booked in the name of the genuine passenger, which will help in stopping fake bookings.
How to link IRCTC Aadhaar with your account
- Visit www.irctc.co.in or open the IRCTC Rail Connect app.
- Log in with your login credentials.
- Go to the My Account section and click on Link Your Aadhaar or Aadhaar KYC.
- Enter the 12-digit Aadhaar number or virtual ID.
- Click on ‘Send OTP’.
- Enter the OTP received on the mobile number linked to Aadhaar.
- Accept and submit the consent form.
- After the process is complete, your Aadhaar status will appear as ‘Verified’ in your IRCTC profile.
How to add Aadhaar-Verified passengers to the Master List
At the time of Tatkal ticket booking, only those passengers who are Aadhaar verified will be selected. To include them in the Master List, the following process will have to be followed:
- After logging in, go to ‘My Profile’ → ‘Master List’.
- Enter the passenger’s name, gender, date of birth, and Aadhaar number.
- Select Aadhaar as ID proof.
- Submit the details.
- Once the verification process is complete, the status will change from ‘Pending’ to ‘Verified’.
