Kashmir Tourist Destination Closed: After the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, high alert is in place in the state.

In view of the intensive search operation being carried out by the security forces, the state government has temporarily closed 48 tourist places in the valley. These include major tourist places in districts like Srinagar, Baramulla, Budgam, Anantnag, Kupwara.

After the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, the entire state is on high alert and security forces have launched a massive search operation against terrorists. Meanwhile, in view of the situation in the valley, the Jammu and Kashmir government has decided to temporarily close 48 tourist places. This decision has been taken in view of security review and ongoing search operations against terrorists.

Why were tourist places closed?

According to government officials, the tourist places which have been closed are either affected by anti-terrorism search operations or are located in sensitive areas. By temporarily stopping the movement of tourists at these places, an attempt is being made to ensure uninterrupted operation of the security forces.

Where were the restrictions imposed?

The places closed include Gurez Valley in Bandipora, Yusmarg, Doodhpathri in Budgam, Aharbal and Kausarnag in Kulgam, Kupwara, Baramulla, Pulwama, Anantnag, Ganderbal and several major tourist places and resorts in Srinagar. Jamia Masjid, Badamwari, Asthanmarg paragliding point and parts of Dachigam in Srinagar are also under the temporary ban.

Search operation in full swing

Joint teams of the army and police are conducting intensive search operations in many areas of the valley after the Pahalgam attack. Targeting the possible hideouts of terrorists, the army is blowing up houses with explosives and search operations have also been intensified in the forests. The administration has appealed to tourists to avoid visiting sensitive areas of the valley and follow official instructions until the situation becomes normal.
