If you live in Delhi-NCR and have become compelled to endure long traffic jams for parathas from Murthal or a trip to Karnal, there’s some relief. In the coming days, the journey from Delhi to Murthal and Karnal will take minutes, not hours. The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) has prepared a detailed project report (DPR) for two new Namo Bharat RRTS corridors, which are set to completely transform the traffic pattern in Delhi-Haryana.

Karnal in 90 minutes, Murthal in 30 minutes

After the first corridor is operational, the journey from Sarai Kale Khan to Karnal will take just 90 minutes, while the journey from Kashmere Gate to Murthal will be just 30 minutes away. This corridor will be 136 kilometers long, covering 36 kilometers in Delhi and 100 kilometers in Haryana. A total of 17 stations will be built along this route, with six in Delhi and 11 in Haryana. Two depots are also proposed in Murthal and Ganjbar.

Industrial and educational areas will gain momentum

This route serves major industrial and educational centers such as Sonipat Education City, Kundli, Barhi Industrial Area, Panipat, IOCL Refinery, and Karnal. Millions of people travel here daily, leading to congestion and pollution. The Namo Bharat Train will run at an average speed of 90 km per hour, significantly reducing travel time.

Delhi to Bawal in One Hour

The second RRTS corridor will be 92 kilometers long, connecting Delhi, Gurugram, Manesar, MBIR, and Bawal. This corridor will also connect Delhi Airport to the RRTS network. Once operational, the journey from Delhi to Bawal will take just one hour, significantly boosting NCR productivity.

Millions of Vehicles to Be Removed from the Roads

According to the NCRTC, upon completion of these two projects, approximately 200,000 private vehicles will be removed from the roads daily. This will reduce traffic congestion, pollution, and approximately 250,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions annually. The Namo Bharat Train, with its steel-to-steel technology, consumes only one-fifth of the fossil fuels of road transport.
