Vande Bharat Express Launches on Nagpur–Pune Route: Speed, Comfort & Connectivity

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday, August 10, flagged off the Ajni (Nagpur)-Pune Vande Bharat Express from Bengaluru Railway Station through video conferencing. Along with this, he also flagged off the KSR Bengaluru-Belgaum and Shri Mata Vaishnodevi Katra-Amritsar Vande Bharat Express.

Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav and other dignitaries were present on the occasion. At the same time, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari were present at the Nagpur Railway Station.

Who will benefit: Maharashtra got Vande Bharat Express from Ajni (Nagpur) to Pune. This is the first Vande Bharat Express that has been provided to the region which was till now deprived of Vande Bharat service between Wardha and Manmad. Ajni (Nagpur) to Pune Vande Bharat service will promote travel between these two fast growing metros for business, tourism, education and employment. It will benefit businessmen, students, employees and tourists.

Longest distance Vande Bharat Express:

Nagpur-Pune Vande Bharat Express will be the longest distance Vande Bharat train in the country. It will cover a distance of 881 km. This is the 12th Vande Bharat train in Maharashtra. This train will run on Wardha, Badnera, Akola, Shegaon, Bhusaval, Jalgaon, Manmad, Kopargaon, Ahmednagar and Daund chord line route. The train will have a total of 8 coaches, out of which 1 will be an executive chair car and 7 chair car coaches. It will be able to carry 590 passengers at a time.

Features connecting Nagpur-Pune cities:

Nagpur is known as the ‘Orange City’. Also, Nagpur is famous as a healthcare city in central India. It is also famous as the winter capital of Maharashtra. Nagpur is also a city associated with the life of Bharat Ratna Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar. Babasaheb adopted Buddhism at the time of initiation and lakhs of devotees come here every year.

The ancient Shri Ram temple of Ramtek and other religious places are located here. Many famous medical institutions like AIIMS are serving the patients of Vidarbha. Nagpur is called the “Tiger Capital of India” as there are many wildlife sanctuaries in the region.

The regular service details are as follows:

Train No. 26101 Pune-Ajni (Nagpur) Vande Bharat Express will depart from Pune at 06:25 am on 6 days a week (except Tuesday) from 11.08.2025. It will reach Ajni at 18:25 pm. While train number 26102 Ajni-Pune Vande Bharat Express will depart from Ajni at 09:50 am on 6 days a week (except Monday) from 12.08.2025. It will reach Pune at 21:50 pm.
