7th pay commission: Central employees waiting for the Dearness Allowance (DA) hike are going to get great news soon after Holi. Several media reports have claimed that the central government may announce its decision to increase the DA rate after Holi on March 8.However, there is no official confirmation on the exact date of DA hike announcement. Therefore, the Central Government employees should wait till the official order of the Union Cabinet comes.

How much hike expected

It is expected that the government will approve a 4% hike in DA and Dearness Relief (DR) rates for employees and pensioners respectively. If this happens, the new rate of DA for central government employees will increase to 42%.

What was the last DA hike?

Dearness Allowance payable to central government employees was increased from 34% to 38% of the basic pay with effect from 1st July 2022.At the same time, dearness relief for pensioners was also increased from 34% to 38%.Explain that the Central Government gives DA / DR to the employees and pensioners due to inflation. It is given on the basis of the recommendations of the 7th Pay Commission.

Gift on pension

Recently, the government has given a gift to a select group of central employees. They have been given a chance to opt for the old pension scheme. Old pension under the Central Civil Services (Pension) Rules, 1972 (now 2021) for employees who joined the Central Government Services against posts advertised or notified prior to December 22, 2003, the date of notification of the National Pension System (NPS) eligible to join the scheme.
