Even after that a considerable increase in inflation has been seen. In such a situation, it is expected that an increase in dearness allowance can be announced again next month. If this happens, then once again the salary of lakhs of central employees is going to increase every month.

Allowance changes twice

The increasing inflation does not adversely affect the central employees, due to this a provision has been made for dearness allowance. It is a component of the salary of the employees. According to the 7th Pay Commission, this allowance is increased twice a year. This is increased once a year. Now the dearness allowance is being awaited for the second time.

First change implemented since January

Generally, the rate of dearness allowance is reviewed twice a year in January and July i.e. in the first and seventh months. Instead of January, the first hike was announced in the month of March. Although the hike was announced in March, but the central employees have got its benefit from January itself. This means that the salary of the employees has increased from January 2023 itself. Similarly, the next hike is expected to be effective from the month of July.

Growth is determined by this figure

Now the question arises that according to which the rates of dearness allowance are decided… Understanding the answer to this question will also make it clear that how much it can increase in July. To increase the dearness allowance, the government takes the help of All-India CPI data i.e. AICPI Index (All India Consumer Price Index), whose figures are issued by the Labor Bureau under the Ministry of Labor and Employment.

This important figure will come on June 30

The AICPI index stood at 132.7 points in the month of February. This index stood at 132.8 points in January. Till now the figures are available till April and then the AICPI index stood at 134.2 points. In this way, since the revision of DA rates in January, the AICPI index has increased by about 1.5 points. The index for the month of May will be released on June 30 and it is being speculated in the news that this time too the index may rise. According to the data available so far, DA can be increased by about 3 percent. On the other hand, seeing the rise in May, then the estimate of 4 percent increase in DA becomes strong.

Pensioners will also benefit

At present the rate of dearness allowance is 42 per cent. Now if there is another 4 per cent increase in it, then the dearness allowance will increase to 46 per cent. In this way, the salary of central employees will increase again every month. Along with dearness allowance, there is also a change in dearness relief i.e. DR. The pensioners of the central government will get the benefit of DR.

More than one crore people benefited

At present, about 47.58 lakh central government employees get the benefit of dearness allowance. At the same time, about 69.76 lakh pensioners are given the benefit of dearness relief. DA is calculated as a part of basic salary. For example, if the basic salary of an employee is Rs 23,500 per month, then he is getting Rs 9,870 as dearness allowance every month on the basis of the current 42 per cent. Before the March hike, he was getting Rs 8,930 as DA. In this way, his monthly take home salary has increased by Rs 940. Similarly, you can calculate according to other basic salary or pension.
