Delhi Govt Hikes Dearness Allowance: The Delhi government on Friday issued an order to increase the Dearness Allowance (DA) of its employees by 4 percent. The decision to increase the dearness allowance of Delhi government employees is according to the decision of the central government.

According to an official order, the Finance of the Delhi Government has sent instructions to their respective departments and autonomous bodies to approve the increase in dearness allowance.

Let us tell you that before the festive season, the Central Government had approved a 4 percent increase in Dearness Allowance (DA) and Dearness Relief (DR) of its employees on 28 September. This hike will be applicable from the retrospective date of 1st July 2022.

This decision of the central government benefited 41.85 lakh central government employees and 69.76 lakh pensioners. Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur said that due to both DA and DR, there will be an additional burden of ₹12,852.5 crore annually on the exchequer.

Karnataka also increased dearness allowance by 3.75%

Meanwhile, the Karnataka government on Friday approved an increase of 3.75 percent in the dearness allowance of its employees. Karnataka CM Basavaraj Bommai gave this information. At present, the Karnataka government employees get dearness allowance of 27.25 percent of their basic pay, which has now increased to 31 percent.

The increase in dearness allowance will put a burden of Rs 1,282.72 crore on the exchequer of the Karnataka government. The Chief Minister’s Office said in a tweet, “CM Basavaraj Bommai has approved the proposal of 3.75% hike in dearness allowance of government employees and retired employees with effect from July 1, 2022. This will cost the state exchequer Rs 1,282.72 crore.”
