DA Hike Latest News: Dearness Allowance (DA) is added to the salary of government employees to provide them relief from inflation. During the last few days, many state governments are increasing the dearness allowance one after the other.

Now the Government of Tamil Nadu (Tamil Nadu Govt) has announced an increase in Dearness Allowance (TN DA Hike) in the state. With this, now the salary of the state government employees will increase, while the retired state government employees will get more pension.

Will be applicable from 1st April only

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin (TN CM MK Stalin) announced to increase DA on Wednesday. He said that the state government has given approval to increase the dearness allowance by 4 per cent for the state government employees and pensioners in the 7th Pay Commission. According to an official statement issued by the state government, this decision to increase DA will be applicable from the beginning of the financial year itself. This means that Tamil Nadu government employees and pensioners will get the benefit of increased DA from April 1, 2023 itself.

Till now Tamil Nadu government employees and pensioners were getting the benefit of dearness allowance at the rate of 38 per cent. Now the rate of dearness allowance will increase to 42 percent. It has also been told in the statement that the benefit of the increased rate of dearness allowance will be given to eligible employees and pensioners from April 1, 2023. For this everyone will be paid arrears.

There will be so much burden on the treasury

In the statement of the state government, it was said that by increasing the dearness allowance, the employees and pensioners of the state government will directly benefit. After this they will get more salary and pension every month. According to the statement, 16 lakh people will be directly benefited by increasing DA. At the same time, due to the implementation of this decision, there will be a burden of Rs 2,367 crore every year on the exchequer of the state government.

These governments have also increased DA

Earlier, recently, the Yogi Adityanath- led Uttar Pradesh government has also increased the dearness allowance from 38 percent to 42 percent under the 7th Pay Commission. The increased allowance in Uttar Pradesh is being implemented from January 1, 2023 only. In April, the Bihar government had also announced to increase DA by 4 percent. In the same month, the government of Himachal Pradesh implemented a 3 percent increase in DA.
