The government has increased the dearness allowance of central employees by 4 percent. After this increase, his DA has now reached 50 percent. It has been implemented from January 1, 2024. His salary will be paid with the new DA in March 2024. The government has approved DA increase from January. That means you will also get two months arrears. That means when your salary comes in March, it will include the increased DA along with two months’ arrears.

How much will salary increase after DA hike?

Let us tell you that generally dearness allowance is revised twice a year. DA is revised in the months of January and July. Earlier in October 2023, the government had increased the DA of central employees by 4 percent. After which the DA of central employees increased from 42 percent to 46 percent. Now with an increase of 4 percent it has reached 50 percent. With the increase in dearness allowance, the take-home salary of the employees will also increase.

What is the formula of DA calculation?

There is a simple formula for how much the salary will increase after increasing DA. According to which the salary is calculated. (Basic Salary + Grade Pay) *DA%. That is, after adding grade pay to your basic salary, multiply it by DA. Whatever comes will be your dearness allowance. Let us try to understand this with an example. Let us assume that after adding your basic salary and grade pay it is Rs 18000.

According to this, till now you were getting Rs 8280 as dearness allowance based on the calculation of 46 dearness allowances. Now dearness allowance has increased from 46 percent to 50 percent. That means DA will increase to Rs 9000. That means, due to increase in DA, your salary will increase by Rs 720 every month. If we talk annually then the salary will increase by Rs 8640.
