Dearness Allowance may increase by 3%

In fact, the DA of the central employees who were expecting a 4% increase in Dearness Allowance, is expected to increase by only 3%. The reason for this is the inflation figures. The AICPI figures for December 2022 have come, which have fallen as compared to November. In such a situation, their dearness allowance is going to increase less than expected.

The decline recorded in the December inflation data is released by the Ministry of Labor AICPI figures are released. There was a steady increase in this from July to November. This was expected to increase the dearness allowance by 4 percent, but the AICPI figures fell in December. However, the AICPI figures remained the same in October and November. The AICPI figure in December has been 132.3 points.

At present, dearness allowance is being given at the rate of 38 per cent.
Central employees are getting dearness allowance at the rate of 38 per cent. Since the AICPI figures are expected to increase by three percent dearness allowance. In such a situation, the DA of the employees will increase to 41 percent.

Dearness allowance is fixed twice a year.

According to media reports, the increase in dearness allowance for January 2023 may be announced in March, but the increased dearness allowance will be applicable from January 2023 only.
