Aadhaar card holders will find it easier to update their Aadhaar card from November 1, 2025. Information can now be changed online, and verification will be done through government documents. Linking your PAN with Aadhaar is mandatory by December 31, 2025.
There’s great news for Aadhaar card holders. Starting November 1, 2025, updating your Aadhaar will become much easier. You won’t need to stand in long queues at a service center. You’ll be able to update information like your name, address, date of birth, or mobile number online from the comfort of your home. These new rules are being implemented to make Aadhaar services faster, simpler, and more secure.
Change 1: Updating Aadhaar Information Now Online
Previously, any correction or update required a visit to an Aadhaar service center. Now, the entire process can be done online. The information you provide (such as name or address) will now be automatically verified against government documents like your PAN card, passport, driver’s license, or ration card. This will make the process even faster and more secure.
Updated Fee Structure
- Updating name, address, or mobile number: ₹75
- Updating fingerprint, iris scan, or photo: ₹125
- Biometric updates are free for children aged 5 to 7 and 15 to 17.
- Online document updates are free until June 14, 2026; after that, updating at a service center will cost ₹75.
- Aadhaar reprint (printed copy): ₹40
- Home enrolment service: ₹700 for the first person, ₹350 for each additional person at the same address.
Change 2: Aadhaar-PAN Linking Mandatory
Every PAN card holder must link their PAN with Aadhaar by December 31, 2025. If you fail to do so, your PAN card will become inactive from January 1, 2026, and you will not be able to use it for any financial or tax-related process. Aadhaar verification will also now be required when applying for a new PAN card.
Change 3: Simplified KYC Process
The Know Your Customer (KYC) process for banks and financial institutions has now been simplified. You can complete KYC through any of the following methods:
- Aadhaar OTP Verification
- Video KYC
- Face-to-face Verification
- The entire process will now be paperless and faster.
Why are these changes necessary?
These new rules will simplify Aadhaar-related services and save people time. The ability to update information from home will increase convenience, while strict verification will ensure data security. However, the Aadhaar-PAN linking deadline is crucial.
Failing to do so on time could lead to financial difficulties in the future. Therefore, link your Aadhaar and PAN on time and have your documents ready for online verification. According to UIDAI, these changes are being made to enhance both the convenience and security of citizens.
