The government has already extended the PAN-Aadhaar linking deadline from March 31 to June 30. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has made it clear in a press conference on Thursday that the penalty amount can be increased only after the deadline for PAN-Aadhaar linking is over. He said that there is still time left for this.

Deadline left, get the link done now

Explain that till March 31, 2022, the linking of Aadhaar-PAN was being done for free. Last year, a late fine of Rs 500 was being imposed from April 1, which was increased to Rs 1000 from July 1, 2022. Apart from this, it was also being said that PAN will become inactive if Aadhaar is not linked before June 30 this year.

There is still time left to link them, they should be linked now. He said that if the deadline for linking is over, then the amount of the fine will increase.

Government extended the deadline

It was said in the statement that under the provisions of the Income Tax Act-1961, every person who has been issued PAN on July 1, 2017 and also has an Aadhaar number, then payment of a prescribed fee for both of them on or before March 31, 2023 It is very important to link after doing this.
