Air India extends VRS deadline for employees, will be able to apply till this date

Air India VRS Offer: Tata Group owned Air India has extended the deadline of Voluntary Retirement Scheme. The airline has extended the deadline for applying under VRS for employees other than flying activities till May 31.

The airline’s HR head Suresh Dutt Tripathi informed about the extension of the date in an internal message. According to this, eligible employees under VRS can apply till May 31.

Earlier the last date was 30 April

The application period for the VRS scheme brought by the Air India Management had ended on 30 April. Under this, non-flying employees who have completed at least five years of uninterrupted service and are above 40 years of age can apply. The airline company said that the decision to accept VRS applications and relieve employees will remain at the discretion of the management.

More than 1000 pilots will be appointed

Earlier, Air India had announced the appointment of more than 1,000 pilots to expand its fleet and network. Apart from the senior pilot, there was talk of including a trainee as well. Air India has ordered 470 aircraft from Boeing and Airbus. These include large aircraft as well. The company currently has more than 1,800 pilots. Tata Group had taken over Air India in January 2022.

According to the advertisement taken out by Air India, the airline is recruiting more than 1,000 pilots. The company said that more than 500 aircraft are joining its fleet. Air India introduced a new pay structure for pilots and cabin crew members on 17 April.
