An Air India flight from Delhi to Tel Aviv was diverted to Abu Dhabi on Sunday for security reasons following an airstrike near Israel’s Tel Aviv airport, sources said. The airline has suspended flights to Tel Aviv till May 6.
Sources said the attack took place less than an hour before Air India flight number AI 139 was to land in Tel Aviv. The airline said in a statement, “Air India flight AI 139 from Delhi to Tel Aviv on 4 May 2025 has been diverted to Abu Dhabi following the incident at Ben Gurion Airport this morning.
The statement said, “The flight was landed safely in Abu Dhabi and will return to Delhi soon.” The airline said that its flights from Tel Aviv will be suspended with immediate effect till May 6 to ensure the safety of passengers and staff. Air India’s flight from Tel Aviv to Delhi on Sunday has been cancelled.
Air India said passengers with valid tickets to Tel Aviv between May 4 and 6 will be given a one-time option to reschedule their travel or a full refund in case of cancellation.
