Due to the increasing tension on the border between India and Pakistan, the Indian government has issued Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) to seven airports in Gujarat.

Now no passenger flights are allowed to operate at these airports. Air attacks are being carried out continuously by Pakistan. That is why this decision has been taken in view of security. Although India has foiled all the air attacks of Pakistan so far, but as a precaution, Notice to Airmen has been issued to seven airports in Gujarat.

A total of 24 airports have been issued Notice to Airmen by the Government of India. These include Jamnagar, Rajkot (Hiraser), Porbandar, Keshod, Kandla, Bhuj and Mundra (Adani) airports in Gujarat. These airports have been closed for the general public. Notice to Airmen temporarily restricts flight operations. Its purpose is to maintain air safety and ensure operational readiness for the armed forces.

Why are airports closed?

During an air attack, enemy rockets come towards us and our defence system’s rockets go to shoot those rockets down. In this situation, when a passenger plane is in the air, any rocket can hit it and the lives of the passengers are in danger. This is why, in case of an air attack, all the airports on the nearby route are closed. However, there has been no attack at the airports where Notice to Airmen has been issued, but this decision has been taken as a precaution.
