Bank holidays in the country are decided by the state government and the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). The Reserve Bank of India’s holiday list shows that banks in the states will remain closed for 14 days in March 2024. These holidays include Sunday, second and fourth Saturday, public holidays and some local holidays. Let us tell you in which states banks will remain closed due to Mahashivratri.

Bank holiday on Mahashivratri

Today, March 8, 2024, banks will remain closed due to Mahashivratri. After that, banks are closed on second Saturday and Sunday. That is, the bank is going to remain closed for three days on 8th, 9th and 10th March. Banks will now open directly on Monday 11 March.

Banks will remain open in these states on the day of Shivratri

Banks will remain open in Gujarat, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Chandigarh, Uttarakhand, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Jammu-Srinagar, Kerala, Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and Himachal Pradesh.

March 8: Banks will remain closed in Tripura, Mizoram, Tamil Nadu, Sikkim, Assam, Manipur, Itanagar, Rajasthan, Nagaland, West Bengal, Goa, Bihar, Meghalaya on Mahashivratri.

27 March (Wednesday): Holi- Banks are closed in Bihar.

March 29 (Friday) – Banks are closed in all states except Tripura, Assam, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Srinagar.
