Is Bank Holiday Today?: Banks will remain closed for the next three consecutive days. All banks in Kolkata will remain closed today on the occasion of Rabindranath Tagore’s birth anniversary.
According to RBI’s holiday calendar, this holiday is only in Kolkata. Tagore ji was a great writer of Bengali literature and was also the first non-European to receive the Nobel Prize. On the other hand, banks will remain closed on Saturday 10 May due to second Saturday and on 11 May due to Sunday. On Monday 12 May, banks will remain closed in Agartala, Aizawl, Dehradun, Jammu, Kolkata, Mumbai, Delhi, Shimla etc. on the occasion of Buddha Purnima.
When are bank holidays?
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) declares bank holidays on different festivals, local celebrations or special days in every state. Banks are also closed on the second and fourth Saturdays of every month and all Sundays. To know the list of holidays, check your bank’s website or RBI’s official notification.
Online banking will continue even on holidays
Even when the bank is closed, you can do all these tasks, such as money transfer, NEFT/RTGS, demand draft, checkbook request. Withdraw money from credit/debit card, ATM. Apply for locker, set standing instructions.
