Bank Holidays April 2023: Banks will remain closed for half a month in April, see full list

The work of most of the banks in the country is controlled by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). Bank holidays are decided after the consent of the Reserve Bank (RBI).

Government and private banks do not work on Sundays apart from the second and fourth Saturdays of the month. Let us tell you that next month in April there will be a holiday of 15 days. According to the RBI order, in April 2023, banks will remain closed for a total of 15 days including Sundays along with second and fourth Saturdays.

Mahavir Jayanti holiday on 4th April

The first holiday in the month of April will start from the annual closing of bank accounts on 1st April. Mahavir Jayanti will be a holiday on 4th April. There will not be any problem related to the functioning of the bank during the whole month. ATM, cash deposit, online banking and mobile banking will continue to work during this period. Holidays can change according to different states.

According to RBI guidelines, apart from Sundays, banks remain closed on the second and fourth Saturdays of the month as well. Under the Negotiable Instruments Act, RBI has declared bank holidays on 1, 4, 5, 7, 14, 15, 18, 21 and 22 April. Apart from this, 5 Sundays are falling on April 2, 9, 16 in April. 8th and 22nd April are the second and fourth Saturdays. Let us see the list of bank holidays in April
