The Income Tax Department has sent e-mails to many taxpayers. In this, taxpayers have been asked to confirm the ITR refund claim. For this, the Income Tax Department has also issued a deadline. Let us tell you that a large number of taxpayers have not confirmed the ITR refund claim within the stipulated time. In such a situation, the department has warned them. At the same time, on the previous day, the Finance Ministry has issued a tax refund of Rs 1.14 lakh crore to the income tax payers through the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT).

The Income Tax Department has sent an e-mail to taxpayers who are filing Income Tax Returns and claiming refunds for the financial year 2021-22. Through this, the Income Tax Department is advising the taxpayers to confirm the refund claim. Actually, a large number of individual taxpayers have claimed refund of ITR, but they are not confirming the authenticity of the given information. In such a situation, the Income Tax Department is making them aware through email messages.

The Income Tax Department has also issued the deadline for the taxpayers for the financial year 2021-22 to confirm the ITR claim to get the refund. Through the email sent, it has been said that the taxpayers who are getting the email will have to confirm the refund claim within 15 days from the day of receiving the mail. Failure to do so may result in problems for the taxpayers.

Chartered Accountant Naveen Wadhwa says that income tax emails are being received by taxpayers whose details do not match with the annual estate. He said that even after receiving the email, the taxpayers who are unable to confirm the due refund claim within the stipulated time frame, can be issued a notice by the Income Tax Department and can ask for more proof of support of ITR.

1.97 crore taxpayers got refund According to the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), from 01 April 2022 to 31 August 2022, 1.14 lakh crore tax refunds have been issued to 1.97 crore taxpayers. Of these, Rs 61,252 crore has been refunded to 1,96,00,998 individual taxpayers. Whereas, Rs 53,158 crore tax refund has been given to 1,46,871 corporate taxpayers.
