7th Pay Commission : Before Navratri, big news has come for the government employees. Ahead of the festive season, the Odisha government on Monday announced a major hike in Dearness Allowance (DA) for state government employees. According to the new notification, the dearness allowance has been increased by 3 percent. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today approved the proposal for hike in dearness allowance for state government employees.

Government employees will get 8 months arrears

Along with this, the dearness allowance of the employees has been increased from the existing 31 percent to 34 percent. The hike in dearness allowance will be deemed to be applicable from January 1, 2022. That is, employees will also get 8 months arrears. This is stated in the official notification.

Central government can also increase DA

The central government can also increase the DA of government employees by 4 percent. If this happens, dearness allowance of government employees will increase to 38 percent. At present, government employees are getting 34 per cent DA. After the increase of the government, the DA area money for July and August will also be available in the salary for the month of September. This decision of the government will benefit the central employees and pensioners of the country.

Salary will increase up to Rs 27,000

The basic salary of the employees is Rs 56,900, they will get DA of Rs 21,622 if there is 38 percent dearness allowance. At present, Rs 19,346 is being received at the rate of 34 per cent at the rate of 34 per cent DA. The increase in DA by 4 percent will increase the salary by Rs 2,276. That is, about Rs 27,312 will increase annually.

Government employees will benefit

By increasing the dearness allowance of the government, 50 lakh employees and 65 lakh pensioners of the country will benefit as their salary will increase. At the beginning of the year, the government had increased the DA by 3 per cent, after which the dearness allowance had gone up to 34 per cent. Now due to increase in DA by 4 per cent, dearness allowance will increase to 38 per cent.
