Big update on the implementation of Old Pension, the government took this step for the benefit of the employees

Old Pension Latest News: There is a continuous demand from the employees of the State Government and Central Government to restore the old pension. Congress ruled states like Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and Punjab etc.

In Karnataka, the State Government Employees Association (KSGEA) started a strike on salary hike and old pension, then the government announced to increase the salary of the employees by 17 percent.

Karnataka government’s committee will visit Rajasthan, apart from this, considering the demand of government employees on old pension, the government has formed a committee on the demand of bringing back the old pension. Also talked about restoring the old pension on the basis of the report of this committee.

Moving forward in this sequence, the Government of Karnataka will visit Rajasthan on a three-member committee to gather information about the implementation of the Old Pension Scheme (OPS). The constitution of this committee has been deployed to give a report on how to implement the old pension.

The OPS committee is expected to reach Rajasthan on March 25 to be implemented in the BJP-ruled state . If old pension is implemented in Karnataka, it will be the first BJP-ruled state, which is expected to implement OPS. Sources said that following the demand of the employees, the Karnataka government has started the work of re-implementing the OPS for the employees joining the job after 2006.

Formation of a committee under the leadership of the Chief Secretary

For this, a committee has been formed under the leadership of the Additional Chief Secretary. The committee will visit five states including Rajasthan, where OPS has been implemented. Sources also claim that this committee will first visit Rajasthan. Chief Secretary Usha Sharma, Finance Secretary Akhil Arora and Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Kuldeep Ranka will be met here.

OPS was restored in April 2022 by the Rajasthan government. Arrangements are also being made by the state government to deposit the money withdrawn by the people who retired between January 1, 2004 and March 31, 2022.
