Birth and Death Registration: big relief to the people! Now Aadhaar card will not be required for registration of birth and death

Jan Aadhaar number was necessary for birth and death certificates. The Directorate of Economic and Statistics had earlier issued an order regarding the certificate not being made without this number. But now the central government has given a big relief to the people. The government has allowed the registrar general’s office to register without Aadhaar.

Aadhaar will not be mandatory

Now Aadhaar number will not be required for registration. Aadhaar will not be mandatory. A notification has been released on 27 June. In which it has been said that ‘the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology has given permission to the RGI office to use the Aadhaar database to authenticate the identity details given during the registration of births and deaths.’

Permission granted under this act

This permission has been received under the Birth and Death Registration Act 1969. In which it has been said that the appointed Registrar will be allowed to choose the option of yes or no on a voluntary basis for verification of the Aadhaar number being collected along with other details sought in the reporting form birth or death.

Prescribed guidelines will be followed

The case may be for the purpose of identifying the child, the parents and the informant in case of birth. The State Government and Union Territory Administration shall follow the guidelines laid down by the Ministry regarding the use of Aadhaar authentication. In the year 2020, the ministry had notified the rules, which said that the central government can allow Aadhaar authentication by requesting institutions for good governance, stopping the flow of public money and providing ease of life.
