Now there is talk of another 4 per cent increase in it. However, no official statement has come regarding this. But due to the increase in inflation and the continuous increase in interest rates, the cabinet may decide to increase the DA. If this happens, lakhs of central government employees will get the gift of increased salary before Holi.

The increase in DA is done by looking at inflation. In January 2023, the consumer price index (CPI) based inflation rate was 6.52 percent. It was 6.85 in rural areas and 6 percent in urban areas. Significantly, after the strictness of RBI’s monetary policies, the inflation rate has definitely come under control, but it is still outside the satisfactory scope of the central bank. The target of RBI is to keep inflation within 2-6 per cent.

DA was increased before Diwali

The central government gives DA to its employees and DR ie dearness relief to pensioners. Last year, before Diwali, the Center had increased DP and DR by 4 per cent. This benefited 48 lakh central employees and 64 lakh pensioners.

How much will the salary increase

if DA is increased by 4 percent, then the salary of an employee with a basic salary of Rs 18,000 will increase by Rs 720. Now his dearness allowance becomes Rs 6840, which will be Rs 7560 according to 42 percent. To see how much dearness allowance has increased, you can see by taking out 42 percent of your basic salary.

West Bengal government increased DA

The West Bengal government had announced to increase the dearness allowance of state government employees by 3 percent on Wednesday. State Finance Minister Chandrima Bhattacharya made this announcement while presenting a budget of Rs 3.39 lakh crore on Wednesday.

Significantly, the employees of the state government were demanding an increase in dearness allowance for a long time. Even after this increase, the employees say that they will stop work for 2 days because the increase is not according to their demand. The employees’ union has said that despite the increase, their total dearness allowance is only 6 per cent of the basic salary.
