The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has taken an important decision to simplify the process of adding names in the birth certificate of children in the country’s capital Delhi.

The MCD on Tuesday announced that a child’s name can be added to the birth certificate online up to four years after birth and it will be automatically approved. In fact, the Municipal Corporation was receiving many complaints by the parents, after which the MCD has taken this decision.

Now you will get approval automatically

An official of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi told news agency PTI that before this decision, it used to take 7 to 10 days to add the names of children in the birth certificate. He said, now parents and guardians will be able to add the name of the child in the birth certificate online till four years after the birth of the child. At the same time, automatic approval will also be given in this process.

MCD took the decision after the complaint

Officials said that many complaints were being received about adding the names of children in the birth certificate. The parents had said that the birth certificate is required for the admission of the children in the school and the authorities are unable to approve it in time. In such a situation, this decision of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi has tried to provide better and simpler facilities to the citizens.

Know what is the process

According to the MCD, under the Birth and Death Registration Act, 1949, if any child is registered without a name, the parent or guardian of such child shall within the stipulated period, orally or in writing to the Registrar of the child. Will be able to give information about the name. After that the registrar will enter that name in the ‘register’.
